“DIY Gallery: A Deeper Look into the 365 Artists 365 Days Project”.
Description: The DIY Gallery: A Deeper Look into the 365 Artists 365 Days Project inspired her high school art students to research, collaborate, and to design their own mock up art galleries. Their journey led them to organize and curate a real exhibition in North East Wisconsin with artists from this project. This presentation will discuss how the idea of creating a DIY Gallery started, how it brought two arts professional into the conversation, importance of educating students on the logistics of putting together a successful exhibition, how to work with artists, and to network with local businesses/gallery owners to determine a possible venue for a student led art exhibition. The 365 Artists 365 Days Project highlights contemporary artists from across the globe through an online interview platform. Since its inception in 2014, it has introduced artist on a daily basis via online and social media. To date, it has featured over 700+ artists working in various media, processes, and studio practices. The session will be set up as a two-person presentation; the Wisconsin art teacher and the founder of the 365 Artists 365 Days Project. A PowerPoint will be shared with the audience containing student testimonials, video, examples of students’ promotional designs, and Q & A. In addition to the project’s website, excerpts from Edward Winkleman’s How to Start and Run a Commercial Art Gallery will be implemented into the student led DIY Gallery lesson plan. This presentation was co-presented by Frank Juarez and Elyse Lucas at the 2017 National Art Education Convention in New York.
“Pathway to Success: A Plan Worth Practicing”
Description: To succeed in today’s art world is dependent upon two practices; an active studio and self-promotion. This presentation introduces artists to a cyclical system called the “Pathway to Success”, which is designed to target every aspect of facilitating a successful plan to self-promote. Artists learn how design his/her own plan to determine what strategy is best to communicate, learn how to establish a presence both online and in person, carry forward the message, nurture relationships, maintain visibility, and to evaluate the process on a quarterly, bi-annual or annual basis.
“Living in the 21st Century: Working in the Creative Field as an Educator, Artist and Gallery Owner”
Description: How does one balance a professional life and an artistic life? Can one exist without the other? How important is it to be an active practitioner of art? This presentation delivers a well-grounded theory that touches upon real life experiences, which maximizes time while seeking common factors that will help to achieve this goal.

Description: This presentation focuses on how embracing the use of technology inside the classroom increase student learning, celebrates student success and creates an advocacy plan. Participants learn and understand the importance and impact it has on our students’ learning in our classroom operations and in our profession as an educator.

Description: This 2-hour workshop will guide you through the process of pricing your work. This will provide you the opportunity to take a honest look at your pricing history, determine trends, and how to adjust pricing accordingly. Once registered, participants will be emailed pre-workshop assignments to help maximize our time together.

Description: Learn to create a website using WordPress, integrate social media, and develop online audiences. What does your website say about you? Why do you want a website? What do you want to communicate? What are your needs? A website takes time, energy, organization, vision, and commitment. A website is an archive and extension of your studio practice. It is a great way to showcase artwork, present a CV (curricula vitae), archive exhibition history, and educate others on the creative process.
“Professional Practices for Artists”
Description: This is an intensive program, which introduce participants to topics that are designed to provide guidance in self-promotion, effective use of social media strategies, understanding the art market, strategic planning, and balancing studio time with business of art practices. All aimed to assist you in creating a pathway to success.

Description: This is a one-day workshop for artists who have a body of work that is ready to be exhibited in a professional setting and would like more information on how to approach a gallery with their work. It includes a 25-minute one-on-one review of their portfolio.
